Bio
Recruited from Lethbridge, Matt Goggin was the older brother of future Geelong captain and Team of the Century member Bill Goggin. A reliable wingman who worked hard to establish himself in the senior side, he played seven seasons at Kardinia Park, serving as a steady link player through the midfield rather than a scoreboard threat. After enjoying his most consistent campaign in 1961, appearing in 17 matches, he left the VFL at just 25 years of age to accept a captain-coach position with Cohuna in northern Victoria. While his career tally was modest compared to his younger brother's, he is remembered as a popular clubman whose life was cut short by a workplace accident in 1972.
