Bio
Recruited via the pre-season supplemental selection period in 2019, Ned Reeves arrived at Hawthorn as a developing giant from the Oakleigh Chargers. Standing at a towering 210cm, the son of former club CEO Justin Reeves was a long-term project player who spent his initial seasons building the physical tank required for senior football. While his exceptional height provided a natural advantage in centre square contests and allowed him to dominate hitout counts, Reeves had to patiently bide his time behind established captain Ben McEvoy before assuming the number one ruck mantle in 2023. However, his hold on the position proved tenuous following the arrival and subsequent form of Lloyd Meek, which often relegated Reeves to the VFL or a secondary role. Despite his effectiveness as a pure tap ruckman, he has faced an ongoing battle to cement a permanent spot in the Hawks' best 22 amid strong internal competition.
