Bio
Recruited from the Keon Park Stars, Neville Shaw was the youngest of the three brothers to represent Collingwood, arriving at Victoria Park with a reputation as perhaps the most naturally talented of the famous clan. While he missed the chance to play with eldest brother Ray, he lined up alongside Tony, quickly earning a spot in the senior side as a versatile small man who combined neat skills with the family's trademark aggression. He impressed immediately as a teenager, playing 20 games including three finals in his debut 1984 season, often rotating between the midfield and forward line where he displayed a sharp eye for goal. However, his time in the VFL was plagued by misfortune, including a car accident in 1985 and a severe knee injury in early 1986 that effectively ended his Collingwood tenure at just 21 years of age. Far from fading away, Shaw proved his elite capability in the SANFL, winning back-to-back best and fairest awards with West Adelaide in the late 1980s to leave a legacy as a genuine talent whose top-flight career was cruelly curtailed.
