Bio
Recruited from local side Yarraville Socials, Norm Charles arrived at the Western Oval as a promising forward option in the early 1950s. He made the most of his limited opportunities in front of goal, booting eight majors across just five senior appearances to average better than a goal a game. Standing 185cm, he offered a tall target in attack but struggled to cement a regular spot in a competitive Bulldogs lineup that was beginning its build toward the 1954 premiership. While his own VFL tenure was brief, he established a significant family legacy at the club, with his nephew Justin Charles later donning the tricolours in the late 1980s.
