Bio
Recruited from Sale, Peter Morrison began his VFL career with a single senior appearance for Footscray in 1974 before a knee reconstruction wiped out his entire 1975 season. In a move that proved to be a spectacular bargain for South Melbourne, the Bulldogs cleared him to the Lakeside Oval for a mere $500 transfer fee, where he immediately developed into a prolific ball-winner. A consistent midfielder who could drift forward to hit the scoreboard, Morrison famously gathered 36 kicks against Geelong in 1976 and later topped the club’s disposal count in 1978. After finishing as the Swans' equal-top Brownlow poller in 1980, his VFL career ended prematurely when he resigned in protest over the club's relocation to Sydney, choosing instead to move to Queensland where he became a prominent player-coach and eventually saw his son, Shane, drafted to the Brisbane Lions.
