Bio
Recruited from the North Ballarat Rebels with pick 25 in the 2011 National Draft, Sebastian Ross arrived at St Kilda with a famous football pedigree as the cousin of Essendon champion Jobe Watson. While he took several seasons to fully cement his standing in the senior side, the left-footed midfielder developed into one of the Saints' most consistent performers during a difficult transitional era for the club. Renowned for his elite endurance and professionalism, Ross established himself as a prolific ball-winner who could alternate between a heavy accumulation role and a run-with tagging assignment on opposition stars, peaking with two Trevor Barker Awards as the club's best and fairest in 2017 and 2019.
A long-serving member of the leadership group who frequently acted as stand-in captain, Ross was a pillar of stability in the St Kilda engine room for over a decade. As the list profile evolved under Brett Ratten and later Ross Lyon, he selflessly adapted to flank and wing roles to accommodate emerging talent, ensuring he remained a valuable contributor well into his veteran years. He departed the club at the conclusion of the 2024 season, leaving a legacy as a loyal 200-game player who provided essential experience and standards during a lean period for the franchise.
