The eldest of the footballing Huntington brothers, Stan arrived at Melbourne as a mature-age recruit after cutting his teeth with the Essendon Association in the VFA. Already 30 years old when he made his VFL debut in the opening round of the 1919 season, he joined his younger brother Jack in the senior side as the league returned to normalcy following the Great War. Operating as a forward, he proved efficient near the sticks by booting three goals across his brief three-game cameo, averaging a goal a game. While his tenure at the top level was fleeting compared to his siblings, his presence helped bolster the Redlegs' forward line depth during the club's post-war rebuilding phase.
