Bio
Recruited from West Perth with the third overall pick in the 2008 National Draft, Stephen Hill wasted little time establishing himself as a vital component of the Fremantle midfield. Blessed with elite speed and a damaging left-foot kick, he became one of the competition's premier line-breakers, often deployed on a wing or at half-back to launch attacking forays. Hill was a central figure during the Dockers' most successful era under Ross Lyon, famously sealing the club's first home preliminary final with a running goal off the interchange bench against Geelong in the 2013 Qualifying Final.
While he enjoyed a period playing alongside his younger brother Bradley, Hill's later career was unfortunately marred by persistent soft tissue injuries, specifically recurring quad and hamstring issues that severely limited his on-field continuity. Despite these late-career setbacks, he reached the 200-game milestone and was awarded Life Membership, retiring in 2021 as a one-club player and one of the most highly skilled operators in Fremantle history.
