Family

The son of former Collingwood and Carlton forward Trent Hotton, Taj Hotton emerged from the Sandringham Dragons as a highly touted talent whose draft year was derailed by a season-ending ACL injury. Despite the setback causing a slide down the draft order, Richmond capitalised on the opportunity to select the dynamic forward-midfielder, banking on his recovery to deliver first-round value. Known for his high-flying aerial ability, agility, and cleanliness in traffic, Hotton combines goal sense with the capacity to impact play up the ground. After a patient rehabilitation period allowed him to break into the senior side for a handful of games, he enters the next phase of his career aiming to translate his junior potential into a permanent role within the Tigers' rotation.
