Bio
Recruited from Balmain Juniors, Vic Nankervis was a half-forward whose VFL career was significantly disrupted by the Great War. He showed early promise with Essendon in the latter stages of 1915, but his momentum was stalled when the club withdrew from the league for two seasons (1916–1917) in a patriotic gesture during the conflict. Upon the 'Same Olds' return to competition in 1918, Nankervis managed just one senior appearance before transferring to Fitzroy mid-season to close out his brief playing days. While his own on-field contributions were limited to a handful of games, he holds a notable place in football genealogy as the uncle of future Geelong legends and Hall of Famers, Ian and Bruce Nankervis.
