Family

Selected with pick 13 in the 2019 National Draft, Will Day arrived at Hawthorn with strong bloodlines as the grandson of 1971 premiership player Robert Day. While initially deployed as a high-production rebounding defender who showed immediate poise, his early development was hampered by frustration with injuries that limited his continuity. His career trajectory shifted dramatically in 2023 when he was permanently moved into the midfield, where his elite decision-making, agility, and ability to navigate congestion became defining features of his game. This breakout season saw him claim the Peter Crimmins Medal, cementing his status as a vital component of the Hawks' engine room and a key leader driving the club's resurgence under Sam Mitchell.
