Bio
Hailing from the Tiwi Islands and bearing one of Australian football's most famous surnames, Willie Rioli entered the AFL with the weight of expectation but quickly carved out his own identity. Selected by West Coast with pick 52 in the 2016 National Draft after shedding significant weight to prove his professional standards, he established himself as a crafty small forward renowned for his elite goal sense, creativity in traffic, and defensive pressure. He became an integral member of the Eagles' 2018 premiership side, forming a dynamic partnership with Liam Ryan, though his tenure at the club was interrupted by a two-year suspension for tampering with a urine sample that ruled him out of the 2020 and 2021 seasons.
After returning to the field for West Coast in 2022, Rioli requested a trade to Port Adelaide the following off-season, seeking a fresh environment and closer proximity to family support networks. Since arriving at Alberton, he has remained a dangerous attacking threat, adding valuable experience and goal-kicking power to the Power's forward mix while wearing the number 15 guernsey. Despite the significant mid-career hiatus, Rioli's ability to turn a game with limited touches and his silky skills near goal have solidified his reputation as a high-impact player capable of moments of brilliance.
