Recruited from the Gippsland Power with pick 28 in the 2020 National Draft, Sam Berry quickly endeared himself to the Adelaide faithful as a hard-nosed midfielder with a ferocious appetite for the contest. After a promising debut season, he enjoyed a breakout 2022 campaign where he established himself as one of the competition's elite pressure players, leading the league in tackles per game and finishing inside the top five of the club's best and fairest count. However, his trajectory faced a hurdle in 2023 as he struggled to retain his spot in the senior side amidst form issues and a squeeze for midfield minutes. Berry responded by refining his burst speed and forward craft, fighting his way back into the rotation to become a reliable contested ball-winner who sets the physical standard for the Crows' engine room.
