Bio
Gabriel Patterson is a speedy forward from Glenelg who entered his draft year as one of South Australia's premier prospects. The son of former Collingwood player Stephen Patterson, he is ineligible for father-son selection but has built a strong standalone profile. After a shoulder injury interrupted the first half of his 2026 season and contributed to a quiet National Championships, Patterson finished the year brilliantly. He earned AFL National Academy honours, dominated at AAMI Talent League level with standout performances including a five-goal haul, and helped lead Glenelg to an Under-18 premiership with two goals in the Grand Final.
Splitting his time between the forward line and midfield, Patterson is a livewire known for his athleticism, evasiveness and uncanny goal sense. He attacks contests with intensity, possesses strong hands overhead and applies immense defensive pressure. While scouts have noted he can occasionally fade out of games and needs to build his endurance, his scoring impact is undeniable. Following a dynamic end to the season that reaffirmed his upside, the National Draft Combine invitee is widely rated as a potential top-15 selection in the open draft.
