Bio
Recruited from Glenelg with pick 40 in the 2014 National Draft, Alex Neal-Bullen established himself as a vital cog in the Melbourne line-up through selfless application rather than highlight-reel football. Over a decade at the Demons, he evolved into the prototype of the modern high-half-forward, relying on elite endurance and relentless tackling pressure to lock the ball inside 50. This defensive mindset became a barometer for the team's performance, and he was an integral member of the side that broke the club's premiership drought in 2021, often performing the unrewarded running patterns that allowed teammates to flourish.
Despite being a contracted leader and fresh off celebrating his 200th game in 2024, Neal-Bullen requested a trade to the Adelaide Crows at the season's end, citing a desire to return home to South Australia for family reasons. Melbourne facilitated the move in good faith, acknowledging his service during the club's rebuild and premiership era. He arrives at West Lakes not only as an experienced accumulator capable of finding the goals but as a veteran mentor expected to drive standards for a developing Crows list.
