Bio
Recruited from Mentone and Xavier College, Brian Sierakowski was a versatile tall who could alternate between the ruck and key defensive posts. Though his kicking style was sometimes described as awkward, he was a formidable contested mark who used his height to great effect as an intercepting backman. He is best remembered for his starring role in the 1966 Grand Final, where he repelled repeat Collingwood attacks and was named among the best players in St Kilda’s famous one-point premiership victory. Following five seasons at Moorabbin, he relocated to Perth to pursue a legal career, eventually becoming a premiership player and best-and-fairest winner with Subiaco. A prominent football administrator in Western Australia post-retirement, he is the father of former Saint and Eagle David Sierakowski.
