Bio
A third-generation footballer with strong bloodlines, Charlie Spargo arrived at Melbourne via pick 29 in the 2017 National Draft. The son of former North Melbourne and Brisbane player Paul Spargo, Charlie overcame his diminutive stature to carve out a niche as a high-pressure small forward renowned for his football IQ and neat disposal inside 50. While rarely a high-volume goalkicker, he played a selfless connector role that prioritised goal assists and defensive acts, establishing himself as a vital cog in the Demons' best 22. His tenure at Melbourne peaked in 2021, where he was a key contributor in the club's drought-breaking Premiership victory over the Western Bulldogs.
After 108 games across eight seasons with the Demons, Spargo moved to North Melbourne ahead of the 2026 season, finally linking up with the club his father represented in the 1980s. The move offered a fresh start for the crafty forward, who brought valuable premiership experience and defensive standards to the Kangaroos' list. At Arden Street, Spargo was tasked with adding leadership and composure to the forward line, utilising his sharp decision-making to guide a younger group of attackers.
