Bio
Recruited from South Fremantle with pick 29 in the 1998 National Draft, Cory McGrath is the older brother of Brisbane premiership player Ashley McGrath. A pacy small utility with good evasive skills, he found it difficult to command a permanent position in the powerful Essendon lineup of the early 2000s, often operating on the fringes of the senior side. McGrath was typically utilised as a running defender or a tagger, roles he continued to play after being traded to Carlton in exchange for a third-round selection prior to the 2004 season. He managed 28 games for the Blues during a tumultuous period for the club under Denis Pagan but was ultimately delisted at the conclusion of the 2006 season.
