Frank Aked jnr

Frank "Dolly" Aked jnr arrived at the Western Oval with a significant pedigree, being the son of inaugural Footscray VFL ruckman Frank Aked snr. Despite the strong family connection, the medium-sized forward struggled to cement a regular spot in the senior lineup, managing just four appearances across two seasons as he sat behind established stars in the pecking order. Following his departure from the VFL, he transferred to Yarrawonga in the Ovens & Murray Football League, where he truly flourished as a prolific goalkicker, topping the league's goal tally in consecutive seasons and playing a key role in representative country football. His contribution to the game extended beyond his own short top-level career, as he is the grandfather of former Richmond, Collingwood, and Footscray forward Allan Edwards.
