Family

A VFA recruit who arrived at Fitzroy via Preston’s 1983 premiership side, Graham Osborne is best remembered for one of the most unusual debuts in club history. After spending the entire 1984 home-and-away season in the reserves, he was called up for his first senior game in the Elimination Final against Collingwood, becoming the first Lion since 1924 to debut in a final. Standing 179cm, Osborne was a depth player who struggled to cement a permanent spot in the senior 22, managing just 37 games over six seasons while playing alongside his younger brother and club leading goalkicker, Richard Osborne. He finished his time at Fitzroy much the way it began, contributing to a premiership in the reserves in 1989 before departing the club.
