Fantasy

The son of former North Melbourne and Port Adelaide forward Daniel Motlop, Jesse arrived at Princes Park via pick 27 in the 2021 National Draft. His selection was a point of contention for Fremantle, who had nurtured him through their Next Generation Academy but were restricted from matching the Blues' bid due to AFL rules regarding top-40 selections. A lively small forward, Motlop quickly established a reputation for his defensive pressure and innate goal sense, providing necessary crumbing support at ground level. While capable of moments of brilliance and multi-goal hauls, his first five seasons were marked by a constant battle for consistency within a competitive forward setup, eventually settling in as a regular contributor who balances scoreboard impact with intense tackling pressure inside 50.
