Bio
Drafted by North Melbourne with pick 8 in the 2000 National Draft, Daniel Motlop joined his premiership-winning brother Shannon at Arden Street, carrying the high expectations associated with his talented footballing family. A mercurial forward capable of the sublime, his initial years were hampered by recurring shoulder injuries and fluctuating form, preventing him from consistently delivering on his immense potential. After five seasons with the Kangaroos, he requested a trade to Port Adelaide to return to South Australia, seeking to revitalise his career in a new environment.
Motlop found his best touch at Alberton, evolving into a dangerous medium forward who combined elite disposal with spectacular aerial ability and an uncanny goal sense. He played a pivotal role in the Power's 2007 Grand Final campaign and produced a career-best season in 2008, where he topped the club's goalkicking and thrilled fans with his ability to score from impossible angles. While criticisms of his defensive pressure and consistency persisted throughout his career, he remained a match-winner on his day until his retirement in 2011, leaving a legacy as one of the era's most gifted entertainers.
