Bio
The eldest sibling of the well-known Motlop footballing dynasty, Shannon Motlop was a skilled small forward and midfielder recruited by North Melbourne from North Adelaide with pick 85 in the 1998 National Draft. He experienced the ultimate success almost immediately, playing in the Kangaroos' 1999 Premiership victory in just his seventh senior game, but struggled to consistently cement his spot in the senior side over the following years and was delisted at the end of 2003. After a season back in the SANFL, Motlop was handed an AFL lifeline by Melbourne in 2005, recruited under special roster exemptions following the tragic passing of Troy Broadbridge in the Boxing Day tsunami. Although he only added 10 senior games to his tally with the Demons, he became a key figure for the club's VFL affiliate, playing in consecutive premierships for Sandringham before his elite career concluded in 2006.
