Bio
Hailing from the renowned Hiskins footballing family of Rutherglen, Stan arrived at South Melbourne to join his brother Arthur, quickly establishing himself as a versatile asset at the Lakeside Oval. He made an immediate impact by booting 19 goals in his debut season, though he is best remembered as a dashing half-back flanker who featured in the club's 1914 Grand Final loss to Carlton. Like many of his generation, his career was defined by sacrifice; he was believed to be the first South player to enlist for the Great War, serving with the 1st Motor Transport Company and losing four prime years of football to the conflict. Hiskins returned to the VFL in 1919 to play three final seasons, cementing his legacy as a loyal servant who gave his absolute peak years to both club and country.
