Tadhg Kennelly played fifty minutes of the 2009 All-Ireland final for Kerry, becoming the first person to win both an AFL premiership and an All-Ireland.
He had won the 2005 flag with Sydney, then signed a new two-year deal with the Swans that November.
Overseas
A scheduled Perth match between Rovers and Metropolitan did not take place because two junior clubs had already started playing on the ground in a scheduling clash.
Administration
Dave McNamara is listed in the 3AW record book as setting kicking records in both Melbourne and Echuca on the same day, 20 September 1928, though newspapers placed him in Melbourne.
The article suggests one kick has been recorded twice.
Records
Collingwood beat Melbourne in a VFL grand final at the MCG played on a day with a top of 11.3 degrees Celsius, the coolest grand final day in league history until 2009.
The ground was wet and partly muddy.
