Bio
A local product recruited from Richmond YCW, Basil O'Rourke arrived at Punt Road as part of a significant footballing family. He was the son of former St Kilda and Fitzroy player Jack O'Rourke Snr and the younger brother of high-flying Tigers full-forward Jack O'Rourke. A small but skilful centreman and wingman, O'Rourke spent time developing in the reserves before breaking into the senior lineup midway through the 1951 season. While his brother was busy topping the club's goalkicking that year, Basil managed just four senior appearances before losing his spot in the side. He left the VFL at the end of the season, crossing to Box Hill in the VFA where he continued his career.
