Bio
Arriving in the AFL with massive expectations, Jack Martin was secured by Gold Coast via the first pick of the 2012 mini-draft, a unique pathway that saw him spend a developmental year in the reserves before his senior debut. Hailing from Broome, the talented utility showed flashes of elite class during his time with the Suns, characterised by his clean hands, leaping ability, and ferocity at the contest, though injuries frequently hampered his continuity. Seeking a fresh start, he moved to Carlton in dramatic circumstances via the Pre-Season Draft in 2020 after a trade deal between the clubs collapsed, immediately making an impact for the Blues before familiar durability issues resurfaced.
Martin's time at Princes Park was defined by glimpses of high-end talent overshadowed by persistent soft-tissue setbacks, often restricting him to a role as a pressure forward rather than the dynamic midfielder many had envisioned. Despite his ability to turn games with his overhead marking and goal sense, the lack of regular game time led to his delisting by the Blues following the 2024 season. Handed a lifeline by Geelong as a delisted free agent for 2025, Martin brings significant experience and X-factor to the Cats, looking to overcome his injury history and contribute to a premiership-contending side.
