Bio
Recruited from the Geelong Falcons with pick 10 in the 2007 National Draft, Dangerfield famously spent his first season completing Year 12 at home in Moggs Creek while listed by Adelaide. Once settled in South Australia, he transformed from a dashing half-forward into the prototype of the modern explosive midfielder, eventually winning the Malcolm Blight Medal in 2015. However, the pull of home eventually saw him request a move to Geelong at the end of that season. Although he was a restricted free agent, Adelaide matched the Cats' offer, forcing a trade that stands as one of the most high-profile player movements in the AFL era.
Upon arriving at Kardinia Park, Dangerfield's impact was instantaneous, winning the Brownlow Medal in his debut season with the club and forming a lethal midfield combination with Joel Selwood. His playstyle is defined by sheer power and burst speed from stoppages, combined with a vertical leap that allows him to drift forward as a dangerous marking target, a trait reflected in his high career goal tally. Known for his "bull-at-a-gate" approach and ability to crash packs, he established himself as the premier contested possession winner of his generation.
