Geelong beat Melbourne by 88 points at the MCG with 22.35, a haul of behinds that Demonwiki lists as the second highest ever kicked in a premiership match.

Melbourne coach Ron Barassi conceded afterwards that Geelong was the best side Melbourne had met all season.
